(it was going to be my secret practicing tool ;-) ) It's a web-based Boggle game, where you play live against other people online. Heather actually found it, after I told her she'd need to practice her Boggle skillz in preparation for her visit to Iowa in late July.
There are a few differences from analog Boggle: (1) all words you find are scored, no matter how many people found them (cause you're typically playing against 40-200 people), (2) you know whether a word is valid or not as soon as you type it, with no penalty for wrong words, (3) the dictionary is HUGE. Of course, it's 3-or-more letters for 4x4 and 4-or-more for the 5x5 board (unlike the Chenette house rules, which are 4-or-more even on 4x4). The really cool thing is that you get to compare your score to other peoples', and also (if you scroll down at the end of the game) you can see words you missed and words that everyone missed, etc.
Anyway, I've been playing this quite a lot in the past couple days, and suddenly for the first time found some unique words! And what's more, one of them was an 11-pointer, putting me in the top 10! See below.
Let me mention that there are some REALLY good players online...on average, I've been placing around 40th in a game of ~150 people, and I've gotten into the top ten several times, but most often when playing with fewer people. A tip if you want to score high: keep typing...especially if it's a poor round, put in lots of words that you've never heard of but look like they might be words. Remember, no penalization!
